Refresh Your Home for Spring near Rochester, NY
It seems like a long time coming each year, but spring always arrives just when we need it. As the snow melts and the flowers bloom, it’s a great time to refresh your home for spring. The design team at Creative Hands is here to help you breathe new life into your home with easy ideas for your window treatments and decor.
Keep it Light
A light color palette and fabrics are the foundation of any spring refresh. This doesn’t mean you must decorate your house like an Easter egg. Soft shades of brown, like beige, also work; try any colors that make you feel more connected to nature. If you’re a drapery person, consider swapping out the heavy panels from winter with lightweight linen or cotton from the Design Studio™ Custom Drapes collection of fabics. Layer them with a set of sheer drapes to add texture and versatility of light control.
Do you prefer hard window treatments? Blinds and shutters are ideal for precision control of light and privacy. You can go with a light stain finish or a solid paint finish in an off-white to keep with the spring theme. Designer Solar Shades are a fantastic choice for rooms that receive a lot of sunlight throughout the day. They’re sleek, easy to operate, and keep glares and heat out of your home without eliminating your view of the outdoors.
You can also do away with window coverings and opt for a stylish top treatment, like a valance or cornice. The amount of privacy will be affected, but a top treatment-only setup makes a room feel much more open and spacious if that's not a concern. It’s also much easier to change up a top treatment on its own instead of a complete window treatment.
Lots of Texture
Nature features so many textures, like the thin blades of grass, broad leaves, and upturned soil. If you’re new to introducing patterns, stick to a palette of no more than three colors but feel free to experiment with shades within each color family. You can also use more than one pattern if you switch up the scale between prints and ensure every design shares at least one color.
