French-Country-Style Window Treatments
French country style is luxury yet laid back. The style features ornate pieces without being ostentatious. It’s easy to identify individual components of the French country style, but it can be more challenging to create a cohesive design scheme using. That’s where the team at Creative Hands comes in. We can help you make your windows look like they’re straight out of a romantic French cottage-a style both timeless and trending.
Recognizing French Country
Every design style must define features that make the foundation of the aesthetic. Look for tall windows, a soft, neutral color palette, and materials such as wood, stone, and white-washed brick when creating a room in the French country style. Another important element is an even mix of hard and soft lines used in decor and furnishings. This combination keeps the space from being overly rustic or rich and billowy.
Of course, specific components have no home in French country design. Bright, vivid colors and jewel tones, even as accessories, do not blend well with this scheme. Instead, choose creamy beiges and whites with dusty blues and greens. You also want to avoid silver metal in any furniture and visible hardware. This is especially true for chrome and shiny metal pieces. Lastly, do without heavy fabrics. They weigh down the aesthetic and take away from the space's overall light and airy feel. Instead, layer with sheers!
